![]() Sinnott and Towler reflects to some extent the view from academia of process plant design, a view which is strongly affected by the points of intersection between academia and industry. This is presumably why Amazon shows my last book and Coulson and Richardson 6 (aka Sinnott and Towler) as being commonly bought together. ![]() My book is a lot more to do with adding what is not there, than correcting what is. They are excellent learning materials for undergraduates. I reference them in several places in my last book, so that I don’t have to go over things they explain just as well as I might (perhaps even better!).Īs these are university textbooks, they have set problems to work at the end of each chapter, and so on. I was at The University of Chester earlier in the week, delivering my “ Missing Piece of Design” presentation, and at the end, a visiting practitioner asked me “What’s wrong with Coulson and Richardson ?”, which I took to be a way of asking me why I wrote my last book.Īs I said at Chester, there’s nothing wrong with the content of the Coulson and Richardson series of textbooks as an undergraduate Chemical Engineering text written by career academics.
